The Little Prince Creamery is opened by the same people behind the Little Prince Cafe at Somme Road. The Little Prince Cafe at Somme Road is no longer around so for people who wants to visit the cafe, please head over to the newly opened cafe at Toa Payoh.

The cafe is about 10-15 minutes walk from Toa Payoh mrt station. You can also take a bus over from Toa Payoh.

I love the drawings in the cafe. By the name of the cafe, you will know that the theme revolves around The Little Prince. The owner of the cafe actually collects The Little Prince books from all around the world, so if you are a fan of the classic novel, you should definitely pay a visit to this cosy little cafe. Did I mention, the drawings are all done by the owner herself?

The cafe sells both sweet and savory items. I had the Waffles with 2 scoops of ice-cream ($9.30). My 2 flavours were the Earl Grey Latte and the Dark Chocolate Flavour (I cannot remember the exact name of the ice-cream). Their matcha ice-cream is another of my favourite as the green tea taste was so strong!

If you are in the area and looking for a cosy cafe to chill and have some desserts, The Little Prince Creamery is a good choice!

Sin Lee Foods | ThumbsForFood

Sin Lee Foods opened its door in the Bukit Ho Swee neighbourhood. The cafe's exterior was eye-catching with it's traditional old-school signboard coupled with modern black framed entrance. It really stood out in contrast with its surroundings.

The indoor seating capacity of Sin Lee is quite limited. We really like the raw, industrial feeling of the bricked walls and concrete floors. The wooden furniture, black furnishing and warm filament bulbs complement by creating a warm and cozy touch to the whole cafe.

We tried the Flat white which was very aromatic and smooth. The cafe art looked kind of abstract though. The prices of the drinks were quite standard cafe prices ranging from about $5.50 onwards. They have iced versions for those who prefer something cold.

We tried the Raspberry Lemonade as well. It was a fizzy version and the raspberry flavour was syrup. I would love it better if they had used fresh raspberries instead. Nevertheless, it was a refreshing drink. Well, I guess, I will probably stick to iced coffee in future.

Boneless Fried Chicken with Cheddar Waffle was our choice for the afternoon. As it was for our tea break, we decided to share the main. The chicken was really juicy and tender. The batter was not too thick and complemented with the chicken well. We loved the texture of the waffle, which we hypothesised was due to the addition of cheddar. 

We felt the price was a little steep though, priced at $21.90. I personally preferred the waffles on its own rather than eating it with the melted butter maple syrup.

 As we were there on a weekday afternoon, there weren't many patrons. However, we would expect there to be a crowd on weekends. They have alfresco outdoor seating area that could accommodate more people. I guess on these days when the weather is so sweltering hot, I would prefer to sit indoors.

Overall, we feel that the price of food in Sin Lee is quite steep. The food quality is good but, we are still undecided whether it is worth the price.

Hello, how has your weekend been? Hope all is good for you! [:

 

S(he)brews café is a unique café located at the west side of Singapore. I wouldn't expect to find such a nicely decorated café in a community centre! Yes, S(he)brews café is located in Queenstown Community Centre. I love how the café gives off the old kampong days feel. It was a short (and sweet) respite from the city life that we are all leading. I went on a Sunday and it was almost empty. Glad that I didn't have to squeeze with others in a crowded café!

 

A down side to the café is that it is not air-conditioned.

 

Iced lychee tea. Well, the drinks and food that S(he)brews café offers are quite simple and limited so don't hold your expectations too high. A refreshing drink to have to cool myself down from the hot weather.

We also ordered a latte and a hot tea to share. The coffee wasn't fabulous but the ambience made up for it!

Waffles with ice-cream $4.50. For the price, I would definitely pay to eat this again!

Spicy drumlets (5 for $3.50). The drumlets were quite yummy! I mean, for this price, it's really good!

Overall, I enjoyed my tea break at S(he)brews café. If you stay near this area, why not head down to have some coffee/tea and snacks? [:

Le Steak by Chef Amri | ThumbsForFood

Le Steak by Chef Amri is one of the few halal restaurants that serve up steak. As such, when I heard of it's setting up at Jalan Kayu, it has been on my must-try halal food places. For those who know Chef Amri will know that he is a Celebrity Chef on Suria Channel. Besides being known for his charming persona, Chef Amri is known for his creativity in making healthy yet tasty dishes. 

It is not difficult to spot Le Steak, especially on weekends when there is a queue. Le Steak is a casual restaurant suitable for family dining and group gatherings. You can also make a booking with Le Steak if you would like to book the venue for an event. They also have private dining room that you can make reservations. They however, do not take reservations for normal dine-in.

On Fridays, Weekends, eve of PH and PH, Le Steak offers Fresh Shucked Live Oyster for $22 half a dozen. The oysters are really fresh. For the price, we felt that it was quite worth it. For those who have not tried raw oysters, Le Steak is definitely a good place to try some!

We also ordered Onion Rings ($3) which was served with Mustard Sauce and Mayonnaise. The mayonnaise came as a shock for us because it was blue! Look at how striking the blue is. We really have no idea why the mayonnaise was blue. However, the taste of it was of starking difference to the color as it was quite bland. We feel that the price of sides in Le Steak is quite reasonable, priced at $3.

Le Steak offers 3 types of steak- Ribeye, Sirloin and Prime Tenderloin. Tenderloin is the most expensive among the 3, priced at $28.90. We feel that the steak was reasonably priced for the portion that was served. The steak was a little too well done I felt. I ordered medium but, it was more of a medium well done steak. Flavour wise, I would say it is not too bad. I felt that if it were to be served hot, it would have been better.

The splash of greens and mash potato was appropriate to balance the meat. The mash potato was quite finely mashed. Personally, I would have preferred it to have some bits of potato in it with a bit more buttery taste.

Sirloin

Teriyaki Chicken ($8.90) is reasonably priced as well. We felt that it was tasty, but, not outstanding.

Seared Chilean Salmon ($14.90) was a little overcooked and thus, not as juicy as one would hope it would be. Nevertheless, the sauce went well with the fish. Similarly, we felt that the dish was not served hot as well, which, was a pity. Personally, I would have preferred the salmon skin to be made more crispy.

My friend ordered Seafood Marinara ($13.90) which she was quite satisfied due to the generous serving of seafood that included mussels, squid and prawns. This dish was served hot which was a great plus point. The tomato base was well-done, not too sour nor sweet. For those looking for a pasta dish, this would be a good dish to order.

Chocolate lava with Ice cream ($10.90) tasted quite good. Was a little disappointed with the chocolate not oozy enough though. I especially liked the combination of the chocolate with the vanilla icecream. It complemented each other so well that I felt like ordering another.

Waffle with 2 scoops of Ice Cream ($8.90) is available only on weekends. I would say the waffle was quite well-done, fluffy and fragrant. The maple syrup was not too overwhelming, preserving the flavor of the waffle. I would have appreciated that they have more flavors of icecream or homemade icecream instead of only having chocolate or vanilla.

Overall, I feel that Le Steak offers Muslim patrons a different dining experience. We would come back again for affordable priced steak. Their desserts were quite a pleasure too. Hopefully, next time around when we dine in Le Steak, the food will be served hot!

The Marshmallow Tree Cafe (Telok Blangah) | ThumbsForFood

Happy Midweek, everyone!

Recently, there are so many new cafes that I am at a lost as to which one to visit first. When I saw the location of Marshmallow Tree Cafe, I knew it would be one of my top choices as it is super near to my house. A perfect choice to chill and read on a lazy Sunday [: It is located in a corner of the Telok Blangah neighbourhood. Just a short walk from the Telok Blangah MRT!

I love the decor of the cafe. It gives off a cosy feeling which makes me feel like staying there to just read my book or talk to my friends. Well, I would really love to do that but there was a constant crowd on the Sunday that I visited and we did not want to deprive others of their coffee drinking chances! This newly set-up cafe can seat around 20-odd people I think; pretty tiny space!

Hot tea $3.50. They serve Twinings tea at the Marshmallow Tree cafe! Not really a fan of Twinings tea; probably because it is easily accessible at supermarkets and convenience stores! Well, but on days when coffee is a little too heavy, tea is the only choice!

Latte $4.50. I thought that the coffee was pretty good! And, the coffee art was good too! For a small budding cafe, Marshmallow tree cafe has definitely surpassed my expectations of it!

A differentiating point about this cafe is that they serve up their drinks with a roasted marshmallow! Loveeeee it! Though it is nothing fascinating, we were all still pretty hyped up when the marshmallows came. Reminded us of the good old days when we would all fight for the marshmallows during BBQ sessions. If only they had free flow of marshmallows or something, it would be so perfect!

Hot chocolate $5.50. I liked the hot chocolate as well as it was thick and milky enough! Would order it on days when I don't need caffeine.

Iced Rose Lemon Tea $4.50. Surprisingly, it didn't have the rose taste that I dislike. Pretty refreshing drink!

Macaron Smores $4.50. Well, I was really excited to order this as it sounded interesting. But, I was pretty disappointed when I tried it. The macaron cover were a tad too hard and the whole thing just tasted too sweet for my liking.

Waffles with a scoop of ice-cream $7.50. This is a simple yet satisfying dessert! A safe choice!

Domo Cup $4.50.  I would say this is something that I would order again the next time I visit the cafe! Melted marshmallows on top with nutella and biscuits at the bottom of the cup. Definitely something that will lift your mood up high into the skies!

Overall, I feel that the Marshmallow Tree Cafe is worthy place to visit. However, the cafe does not really serve proper meals so I would suggest dropping by for a cup of coffee and some sweets! Setting itself in a neighbourhood environment and having a unique theme of its own, I foresee increasing popularity of this newly opened cafe!
